Newlans is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in programmable analog signal processing solutions. These innovative products break the inflexibility of today’s fixed frequency RF systems, expanding their capabilities while reducing cost, size and power consumption.


Dr. Dev Gupta

Founder, Chairman

Dr. Dev Gupta received his Ph.D. in 1977 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He held various engineering positions at the Bell Laboratories in Andover, MA, from 1977 to 1985. He was the General Manager at Integrated Network Corporation, a manufacturer of DSL access products, from 1985 to 1995. Dr. Gupta founded two companies, Dagaz Technologies and Maxcomm, which were acquired by Cisco Systems in 1997 and 1999 respectively. These companies developed and manufactured telephone exchange and voice and data equipment for DSL. He was Cisco’s VP of Architecture in the access business unit between founding Dagaz Technologies and Maxcomm. In 2000, he founded Narad Networks which manufactured Gigabit Ethernet networking equipment for the cable industry. Narad Networks (renamed PhyFlex) was acquired by Cienna in 2007. Newlans was founded in 2003. Dr. Gupta is a Charter Member of the Atlantic chapter of the Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), an organization which promotes entrepreneurship. The World Economic Forum named him a ‘Tech. Pioneer’ for the years 2001 and 2002. He has over thirty patents in communications, networking, circuit design, and signal processing.

Divi Gupta

Chief Executive Officer

Divi Gupta is a founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Newlans. Divi manages the daily operations of the company, leads the company's fundraising, partnerships, business and corporate development. At his time at Newlans, Divi redirected the strategic focus of the company, built the team, raised a $7M Series A venture financing in 2011 led by Paladin Capital and Lockheed Martin, and raised a $20M Series B venture financing in 2014 led by Intel Capital and Verizon Ventures. Divi has also led the technology development since January 2015 when he became the Chief Executive Officer, guiding the team to deliver industry-best performance components to its handset partners/customers. 


Prior to Newlans, Divi was a Senior Financial Analyst and a Sales Engineer for Narad Networks, a technology start-up (building infrastructure for the cable industry) that was sold to Ciena Corp.


Divi holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Barry Waxman

Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Having developed a global geographic business across Asia (Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Australia), North America, Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile) and Europe, Barry brings Newlans innovations to leading brand OEM and ODM’s world-wide.


His broad market segment and domain knowledge, spans Semiconductors used in Wireless and Mobile Consumer Products, Imaging (Video and Still), Advanced Video CODEC’s, DVD Players/Recorders, Set Top Boxes, Mobile Commerce, PC’s/Computers, Storage and Networking, Medical/Bio, Automotive(Telematics), Gaming Industries and Solar PV.


He has professionally, served on Executive Management Teams of Western Digital, Adaptec, Mylex (acquired by IBM), PixelMagic (acquired by Oak Technology and Zoran), Microtouch Systems (acquired by 3M) and startups, Standard MEMS, Connex Technology, Tak Imaging, as well as founding mVision Technology (mobile commerce) and TechASIA Management (a leading Business Development firm).


His Degree was earned in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Paisley College of Technology, King’s College, London.

Jim Bao, Ph.D.

Vice President of Engineering

Jim Bao leads development of Newlans Wireless products.  Previous to Newlans Jim was Director of Engineering at RFMD where he started up RFMD’s Shanghai Design Center, building the team and managing development of many high volume RF wireless terminal solutions from 2007 thru 2013.   Jim’s broad experience in all aspects of engineering for wireless terminal RF components also includes six years in Director of Engineering and Engineering Manager positions at RFMD, Greensboro and five years as a Senior Design Engineer at Anadigics.   Jim received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and holds a MBA in General Management from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.

Darryl Evans

Vice President of New Product Introduction

Darryl manages Newlans innovative RF products from conception to successful implementation in OEM wireless terminals.  Darryl brought numerous high volume products to market while at Skyworks and Peregrine and has over 25 years’ experience in RF component engineering.   As a Design Engineering Manager for Skyworks Solutions Inc., Darryl led a team of Product Development Engineers including Design Engineers, Layout Engineers, Test Engineers and Assembly Technicians in all aspects of product development, product introduction, and OEM product support.  Darryl earned a MBA in Marketing and Supply Chain Management from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.  Darryl received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Information Technology from Daniel Webster College. 

Anuj Madan, Ph.D.

Chief Technology Officer

After consulting on the development of Newlans programmable RF technology, Anuj Madan took on the Chief Technology Officer position at Newlans where he is responsible for core technology performance and identifying new application opportunities. He works closely with external partners and internal groups to exploit Newlans capabilities in the programmable and tunable RF front-end space. Anuj has held engineering positions at Skyworks Solutions and SiGe Semiconductor (acquired by Skyworks), where he ramped several products to production on existing and new SOI technology platforms.  Anuj pioneered the integration of switch and LNA for WLAN applications towards a single-chip FEIC roadmap and is responsible for approximately 15 patent filings and 26 publications. Anuj holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a IEEE Electron Devices Society Fellowship.
